Paul Clinton Bliss
Paul Clinton Bliss, 83, passed away August 24, 2017, at the VA hospital in San Francisco, with loving family by his side.
Paul was born May 5,1934, in Oakland, California, to Paul P. And Cecile K. (Steffen) Bliss. He met the love of his life Meredith A. Bottome, and they married February 6, 1954, and raised six children together.
He graduated from Saint Mary's College High School in Berkeley, Ca., He proudly served in the army reserves for three years, he then enlisted in 1956 in the Air Force, where his career of 50+ years as a Computer processing system analyst began. He worked many jobs through out his career.
In 1976, Paul and his family moved to Mendocino County, he still commuted back and forth working for Crowley Maritime in San Francisco. He then landed a job as Data Processing Manager for Remco Hydraulics in Willits.
He had a love for our country and a deep appreciation for those who served in our military. He devoted most of his time to the American legion post 174 as Adjutant. He also wrote and published the American Legion newsletter for the whole district.
Paul is survived by his children; John and Cecile (Bliss) Elfman, Katrina (Bliss) Peers, Doug and Alicia (Bliss) Berry, Meredith (Bliss) BooneDenhem, Paul D. and Sabrina Bliss, Nieces and Nephews; Bill and Pat Moffett and Barbara Hazelhorst and Doreen Ligertwood, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
Lovingly known as Grumpa, everyone will miss Paul for his dry humor and funny jokes, he was truly one of a kind.
Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years Meredith A Bliss, parents Paul P. and Cecile K. Bliss, son Darrell P. Bliss, and sister Peggy (Bliss) Gray.
A memorial service and potluck has been set up for Sunday, October 1, 2017, at 12 noon at St. John Lutheran Church, 24 Mill Creek Dr. Willits, Ca, a short graveside service to follow at 3:00 p.m., at Little Lake Cemetery on East Hill road.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Legion post 174, or St. John Lutheran Church.
