I owe Wally Anderson my career at the Willits Post Office. After finishing the logging season as a choker setter, I went in and told him I would work at any position in the office, that I had worked nights at the Oakland Post Office, while working days as a Social Worker for Alameda County. He hired me within a couple of weeks to fill in for an injured and elderly city carrier and from then, December 1972, I served as clerk, carrier, window clerk, star route substitute, and for over twenty years, rural carrier. Wally went from Garberville to assistant Postmaster in Willits, helping PM George Sirizzotti, who retired in 1972, leaving the responsibility and title to Wally. He did everything well and always tried to be fair. He was proud of his WWII duty and of his natal and married family. He said to me all his brothers and sisters owned their own homes. Coming out of the Depression, he was humbly proud of what he had accomplished, starting after the War as a sub carrier in San Rafael and learning all thirty-two routes. A good man and good representative of his people and his era.

Wally was one of the nicest people I have every known. Our family had so
many good times together. Bev, we are
so sorry for your loss. Maybe he will
see my dad and they can talk about the good times.
