Dear Family. I am so sorry to hear this news. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Thanks Dave for taking such good care our father at times. You have reunited with him and many others. We know you are rejoicing in heaven. I'm sorry I am away and cannot make the celebration of your life. You have touched many lives during your time here on earth. Thanks.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Scott Family. Dave was an amazing man with constant dedication and support for his athletes and students to improve and succeed. He was a true inspiration to many of us who had the privilege of being coached and taught by him. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Peace be with him after a life well lived.

I have had the privilege of knowing Mr. Scot for well over 45 years. I always had the utmost respect for him. His approach, his knowledge and his demeanor made him a great role model. As a high school track athlete who competed against his athletes, he never ignored me and always had either a word of encouragement or perhaps a little advice. Obviously, his motives were to ensure that every student experienced life to their fullest potential. When, after University, my focus went from competing to coaching, he had no issues turning his school athletes over to me for the summer and, hopefully, I did not mess anything up. If I had, I am sure that he would have, in his usual mild manner, informed me of that.

After coaching I moved into officiating and, at that time, I was fortunate enough to have conversations with him that were more casual in nature. All the while, his only concern was for his athletes.

My son, also a track athlete for a competing school, told me as I informed him of this sad event, that Mr. Scott was the best coach from another school that he had ever encountered.

Mr. Scott was a true gentleman who cared deeply about all students, not just those from General Amherst although, obviously, they were his main focus.

Essex County has lost one of the great educators and ambassadors. A true gentleman and a great role model for me for these many years.

Rest in peace, Coach.

Coach Dave Scott aspired every athlete to dig deep and to perform 100%. Everyone loved him and wanted to please him. Coach Scott dedicated his life to helping others achieve excellence. General Amherst will never be the same without him.

I am a football coach today in part because of watching, learning, and listening to Coach Scott during my Amherst playing days. He will be missed but his impact will not soon be forgotten.

Thoughts and prayers are with you Katie. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him!

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

A great coach and mentor in athletics. A great teacher with a heart of gold for sports. Sorry to hear of David's passing.
Peace be with you at this time.
