I had the pleasure to know Ellis for many years, both as a serving military member, and also as a member of the Hospitaller Order of St John. Though I did not serve with him when he was a CIC officer, I'm sure his cadets appreciated his sense of innate kindness and wisdom. I look back with great fondness on our past experiences, social and professional. Ellis always had a pleasant and friendly disposition, and had an awesome sense of humour. He was a fine officer and a true gentleman. I will miss him. RIP.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ellis in Florida several years ago, my entire family adored him. My mother was truly amazed as were my sons with such an exceptional person. Just know my mother is guiding him on the other side and they are having a grand time laughing and smiling. My son and I just found out about his passing and we are devastated. He had great patience with my challenged son. My heart goes out to his children and grandchildren, am so sorry.

I just learned of Ellis' passing,my condolences to the family. I knew Him for almost 40 years ,first as a militaria collector then when I served in the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment. I last spoke to him at the 50th Riverside High School Reunion. He will be missed.

Ellis was one of my first introductions to Riverside High,28 years ago, having been tranplanted from Montreal. I recall his incredible wit and insight on all things historical. I was also blessed to discover that he had befriended my parents as I relocated to the Niagara Region, giving me the opportunity to reconnect with him years later at one of their functions. A remarkable man, the likes of which I shall not see again. May God comfort you during this most difficult time. A very sad loss.

I was honoured to know Ellis going back to Reach for the Top days. Godspeed, my friend, and my condolences to Ellis' family.
