Jeanne, Terry, Louise and the entire Orr/Cecile Family
I remember Melvin delivering "crushed stone" to our house when I was 10. I thought then, what a cool job. As I got older I realized that he was what we now call an "entrepreneur". Later in life when I became friends with Terry, I realized he was the original "dirt farmer" and saw the value in what he was doing. Terry and he and I became friends and we started harvesting dirt. Melvin's work and business ethics was based on respect and trust and it was always a handshake between Terry and I and him that would seal the deal.
Best thing I ever did was plan my trip back to Tecumseh for his 80th birthday party.
When dignataries and royalty come to Calgary our politians anoint them with a Smithbuilt "white hat" for their contributions to society. I was proud to give Melvin the same white hat that Gordie Howe, and Prince William among others were given as he was as deserving a human being, son, brother, husband, father, pepe and friend. Melvin, proud to have known you and proud to be have been your friend. Sorry I couln't have been there today for the mass, however I want to just remember you at your Birthday party and our last visit with yor on Mother's day this year.
With the utmost respect and I know you are sitting with God watching over all of us

My memories of Mr. Orr go way back, and his sense of humour will never be forgotten. So glad Nicholas would come home after a day in the yard and share his stories of an afternoon with Melvin. Condolences to your whole family from the Laforet family
