Edward L. Washington Sr., 73, of Wilmington, died 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014 at his residence.
His wife, Wilma Jean Washington, survives.
Mr. Washington was born Oct. 16, 1940 in Wilmington, a son of the late William and Naomi Washington.
Mr. Washington worked as a painter. He had also worked at Airborne Express. He was a member and served as a deacon at Bible Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Washington is survived by a son, Edward Leroy Washington Jr. of Blanchester; a daughter, Marie A. Washington of Cincinnati; a sister, Willa (Anthony) Colbert of Alexandria, Va.; a grandchild, Jada M. Clemons of Cincinnati; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, a brother, David Washington, and four sisters, Janet Washington, Louise Cassell, Marie Doyle, and Evelyn McKee, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 22 at the Bible Missionary Baptist Church, 243 Grant St., Wilmington, with Dr. Kurtis Summerville officiating.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday at the church. Interment will be in Clinton County Memory Gardens at the convenience of the family.
Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, is serving the family.
