I'm sorry to hear of Mr. King's passing. My mother was a Woolverton from Woolverton Mt. and Clifton Clowers was a real person, though not what the song depicted. You can read more about the Woolvertons on the Woolverton FB page. (spelling was changed for the song but both spellings go back to same ancestors).

Mr. King was a very nice man. I'll always remember telling him that he should have a display at the Memorial Auditorium (when I worked there)- but he was more concerned that his friend Johnny Horton should be remembered.

I am so sorry to hear about C.K,s passing. I have known Claude and his family for 45 years and went to school with Jay at Linwood and Woodlawn high I am very grateful to have been a friend to Claude and Jay as my best friend. Claude King - A star on the Shreveport "Walk of Stars”. He could sing country with originality like no other could. Thanks for all the fun on the radio. "On Woolverton Mountain" takes me back, and Claude's version of “The House of the Rising Sun” is great. Thanks Claude!
