Professor Hodge was one of the most profound men I've met in my life. His influence upon the lives of others cannot be calculated... he altered my own life dramatically, both in its direction and in its quality. Even today, twenty years after I last spoke with him, I think of him often in my own work as a professor. My teaching approach is largely modeled after his manner of gently revealing the truth of one's talents, then kindly suggesting distinct ways of improving and going further. Only my father has had more of an impact on my life, and I hold the same loving regard for both men. Time has taken Professor Hodge, but never his memory. Rest in peace Jerry... you were a blessing to us all.
