Barbara Clagg Obituary

YORK Barbara Lee (Lane) Clagg, 81, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at 4:44 a.m. at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. She was the wife of Melvin Clagg, with whom she observed their 55th wedding anniversary on May 9, 2014. Barbara was born on April 23, 1933, in Huntington, W.Va. and was the daughter of the late Roy and Stacie (Spencer) Lane. She had been employed by several cigar companies, where she met and trained her husband, Melvin Clagg, to be a foreman. She worked for the House of Windsor in York and the McCrory's Distribution Center and lastly, with her daughter Jane in her barbershop. She enjoyed volunteering at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home, attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time at her senior center. In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her daughter, Jane Ness and her husband Harry of York; her daughter, Melvina Clagg of York; two grandchildren, Danny Hinkle and Monica Green and her husband Luke; and three great-grandchildren, Lane, Isla, and River. Barbara is preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters. Barbara was proud that she lived her entire life in a way that she thought Jesus would've wanted her to live. She had no regrets. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the service on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York. Burial will be in Salem Union Cemetery in Jacobus, Pa. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. So sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. Such a sweet loving lady. She opened up her home toe and my daughter to stay the night with her when we were in the area. She was the sister of my stepdad Jim Lane. Prayers to all the family, I know she will be greatly missed.
