Uncle Jim was always so kind and interested in our lives. He found a way to support himself doing what he loved so much. I don't think he worked a day in his life. His enthusiasm for music was infectious. A wonderful role model and kind man. We will miss you.

Dr. Mohatt was my music theory, music history teacher and advisor while I attended YCP 1988-1991. He was a great teacher and friend during my time in college. I was his only student for music history that semester. We had class in his office. It was very fun and rewarding studying with him in private. My classes with Dr. Mohatt were the most rewarding at YCP. He was a very good and friendly man. I will miss him.

Uncle Jim was a kind and quiet man who lived his life exactly the way he wanted to, and he lived it well. His father wanted him to take over the family farm, but Jim wanted to tech music. They went back-and-forth about his future until his mother told his father, "You got to do what you wanted to do ... now let him do what he wants to do." That's what Jim did.

Dr. Mohatt helped me for YJSO. He was so kind and generous. He guided me through my journey to become an important pianist for the junior symphony. He will always be there for me.

Dr. Mohatt,
I remember when you would come to the library to pick up your Opera movies. I also remember when I couldn't find them, I remember one time that it look maybe 45 minutes. I kept saying sorry and sorry, and you would just keep saying, "No it's alright" with a smile. You were really a nice, kind, interesting, and patient man. I will miss seeing you around the library.
