"Larry" Gurreri YORK Lawrence W. "Larry" Gurreri, 64, died on March 18, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in York, on March 22, 1948, the son of Anna ( Sciangula) Gurreri and the late William Gurreri. Larry served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and later reenlisted in the U.S. Army. He was last employed by the County of York as Facilities Manager for Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. Larry is survived by four children, Lonnie Gurreri, Cary (Anne) Gurreri, Nina Gurreri, and William (Erin) Gurreri; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by three sisters, Rose Gurreri, Stella (William) Holt, Francis (David) Moubray, brothers Mike Gurreri, and Joseph (Mary Jo) Gurreri. To all of Larry 's family members. He will be truly missed.
I remember how Larry looked in his Air Force uniform when he married my sister, Juanita. Looking at those pictures these days I see a very nice looking couple; and Larry looked like a young "Al Pacino" - did he play a double. ;-). Their marriage was blessed giving me my nephew "Lonnie".
Seriously if Larry didn't sing before, he is now on stage singing with the angels. Lonnie, Cary, Nina and Bill, know that your dad is still watching over you but from the heavens above.
And to Anna, Joey, Mike, Stella, Rose, Fran, Lonnie, Cary, Nina, and Bill and families, our deepest condolences in your loss of a loved one.
Chuck Grove and Kathy (Huber) Falensky
p.s. Mike, the interesting childhood memories you spoke of were a pleasure to hear; especially Larry being born with a "wrench" in his hand; and later taking Rose's new bicycle apart and "selling it for parts ........" (Right Donna, your sister Kat). I know that Larry has taken his "wrench" with him just in case one of the chariots needs a wheel fixed.

The Gurreri Family, I worked with Larry the last 7 years and you could find a more stand up guy. He always took time when he saw my son Tino or daughter Gianna to speak Italian to them and give them attention and love I know he gave all of you (family), throughout his accomplished time on earth. He was a very proud man and I hope he knows how loved and respected he was in his personal and professional life. Larry you will be missed. "Vada con il dio".

I can only hope that Larry's last few hours were one's of peace and tranquility. Lonnie's mother, my sister, passed away Christmas morning and now he is dealing with the passing of his father a scant 3 months later. That has to be hard to deal with. I can only hope that Lonnie hangs tough and takes care.
When we hear of friends and loved ones who are near the same age as we are passing away it is then we become more aware of our own mortality.
Larry was a close friend during the time he still lived here in Ohio and we got along well together.
He moved back to York and contact was slowly lost as we each pursued our individual lives with marriage and children. Times move fast and regrets are always there as to keeping in better contact with one another. We always think that we still have time but in reality time is just an illusion that flashes by while we are not paying attention.
So to Lonnie and all the rest of the Gurreri family (those that I have met and those I haven't) I can only say that Larry will indeed be missed.
