Dr. Juleus was an inspiration to me as a student from 1977 to 1981. His pragmatism and humor helped me in so many ways.I have nothing but fond memories of class time spent with him. He was a gift to his family, friends and those of us fortunate to have been taught by him. God bless.

To a wonderful Professor and person. Professor Juleus was one of the Professors that pulled me into his office and showed me books from floor to ceiling from which I could choose my Senior Thesis. I was fortunate enough to have him as a Professor in the late '80's and early '90's. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. He will be missed. Sonya Roae-Nicholson '92

Nels...boss, mentor, friend
For a brief period, I was privileged to walk in his shadow, the fortunate recipient of his gigantic intellect, humanity and humor. His impact continues, and he lives in my heart forever.

Undoubtedly Nels was a wonderful husband and father. One could tell that by the way Jackie, Kris and Jill loved him. I knew him as an inspiring teacher, as did so many others at Allegheny College. Nels could reduce knowledge, as Mencken put it, to the obvious and wonderful. He taught by asking questions, not by giving the answer, and that made what we learned priceless. At this point Nels would probably say something humorous about how the rising price of tuition might prove me wrong. His memory will live on, not only in those who loved him as family, but in those of us who were inspired by him as students.
Jackie, Kris and Jill—thank you for sharing Nels with us. You are in our prayers.
