Raymond Kriner Obituary

JACOBUS Raymond E. Kriner, 90, died Monday, February 10, 2014, at his home. He was the husband of Florence J. (Ferree) Kriner, with whom he would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on March 28, 2014. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Salem Lutheran Church, 99 York Road, Jacobus, with a flag presentation by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be his Interim Pastor, the Rev. Robert L. Hoover, Jr. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Mr. Kriner was born on September 20, 1923, in Greencastle, a son of the late Edward S. and Grace V. (Statler) Kriner and was a foster son of the late Robert R. and Edna (Shaffer) Wiley. He was a 1943 graduate of William Penn Sr. High School, York, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving as a Yeoman Third Class. He retired in 1985 from I. Reindollar Construction where he was employed as a carpenter and Job Superintendent and helped to construct many of the Bon Ton Department Stores. Prior to that, he was employed with R.S. Noonan Construction. He was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he served on several committees, including the Property Committee for many years and on the church council. He also served on the Jacobus Borough Council and was a member of the Carpenters' Union #191, York. He enjoyed woodworking, cabinet making, and was an artist, doing many oil paintings of covered bridges, buildings, and landscapes. In addition to his wife, he leaves five daughters, Judy Geesey and husband, Gary of York, Pearl Kessler and husband, Thomas, Wanda Morrison and husband, John, Kathy Truscott and husband, Douglas, all of Red Lion, Joyce Goulden and husband, Donald of Dallastown, a son, Mark Kriner and wife, Amy of Red Lion; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and was predeceased by three sisters and a brother. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, 99 York Road, Jacobus, PA 17407.
