Steve made a home for me at the Fairfield [Conn.] Historical Society, where I did consulting for several years. That work and his friendship helped me get through a difficult period in my life. He helped me move to "Balmer," one of his favorite cities, too! I owe him in the best way and will always feel lucky to have known him.

I recently learned of the passing of Steve. We worked together at the Fairfield Historical Society for several years. He was a pleasure to be around and was always a gentleman and a gentle man. My condolences to his family and friends.

Good by my friend. I new steve for over 20 years. I volunteered at the Fairfield historical society. We talked at least once per month since he moved to York and his death was a complete surprise. I will miss him beyond words. -Mark Tobias, BPT, CT

To The Steve Young Family
Some peoole just stand out when you have conversations with them. Steve was that way in person and when we sent e-mails back a forth from Fairfield CT to SE Virginia.
He will be missed by many as he touched
so many.
Rest in peace, Steve A good man never leaves us, he dwells in our inner thoughts forever.

Father in Heaven, please rest the soul of our beloved Steve. The most incredible man I'VE ever known! So knowing of everything he speaks! My husband and myself met Steve Many years ago while marching with the Hanover Lancers. He would talk for a while about what work needed to be finished. Steve was a brilliant man, and So very loyal to everyone he touched! There is more of his history that has not been touched on!

ALLENTOWN!! Best times, you smart man!
smooch!

I first met Steve in the early 70s when Stan Dutterer arranged for Steve and Walt Mitzel to assist Bob Zarfoss with the drum line of the Hanover Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps. What a team of instructors! Even though I was bugle player (yes ... there are Bugles in a Drum Corps), I got to know Steve very well in the many late-night/early-morning discussions in parking lots after practices, competitions, DCI East, etc. Heck, I was convinced we had the solutions to fix all of the world's problems. In actuality, I would wake up the next afternoon and discover that all the problems were still there, but now I had a headache. Oh well, they were wonderful times in my life. I always considered Steve to be a very good friend and mentor. I knew Steve to be a true gentleman. But, after reading some of the other tributes to Steve, I would say the best word to describe him is “calming”. That will always be my memory of Steve. I will miss you buddy!

Steve was one of the truly good and kind people you meet in life. I had the pleasure of working with him at the Fairfield historical society for many years. Although we didn't have much contact after he left, I considered him a wonderful friend and feel blessed to have known him. My deepest sympathy and condolences to Steve's family. Rest in peace.

Just read the local Fairfield newspaper and was shocked to hear the news about Steve. He did such a great job with the Fairfield Historical Society, and he was a long time client of mine. Please accept my sincere condolences.
