YORK Oscar A. Delle, 90, died at 1:25 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014, at York County Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Patricia E. (Stabley) Delle. Born September 5, 1923, in York, a son of the late Walter and Edna (Folcomer) Delle, he retired as Principal of William Penn High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, and had been a member of the Devers Lions Club. He was also a Free Mason, and was a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Mr. Delle is survived by a daughter, Lyn E. Vu and her husband, Todd of Baltimore, Md.; two sons, Scott H. Delle and his wife, Margie of Trenton, Tenn., and David W. Delle and his wife, Julie of York; five grandchildren; a brother, Winfield Delle of Nebraska; and a sister, Louise Land of Philadelphia. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S. George St., York. Viewings will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Delle's were our neighbors when I was a little kid on Fahs St back in the late 50's - early 60's. I never forgot his name. Our sympathy to the family. RIP Mr. Delle.

Grandpa, I'm having such a hard time admitting that you are gone. I miss you so much and wish you were here. You were such an amazing person and I will deeply miss every moment spent with you, especially your infectious laugh and smile. Until we meet again, I'll keep you locked in my heart. Way back in the 50's while a student at Phineas Davis I was fortunate to have had Mr. Delle as a teacher. What a wonderful teacher and people person he was. Aa fine human being. My sympathy to all the family.

RIP Mr. Delle...you were my absolute favorite principal at York High. I remember the many great talks you and I had in those years and have carried your advice with me all my life.
