Kev-

I think about you often and the fun we had working at Petco. I remember one day in particular, you were cleaning the fishtanks and you said to me "I'm not going to be doing this for the rest of my life...I'll be a nurse one day---You should finish school too"

I know, without a doubt that when I do finish school and finally become a nurse, you will be smiling down at me and I'll be smiling right back at you saying I DID IT. You'll be my own personal "RN" guardian angel.

You will forever be and ARE so missed.

I don't know where to begin. The news of the passing of my old childhood friend has struck me in such an unbeleivable way. Growing up with Kevin, Brian and yes, even Jay, was just plain fun. I must say that Kevin was a great kid that grew up to be an inspiration for many people and his memory will always linger in my heart. I share my deepest sympathy with the rafky family and will always be there for them. I love you Kevin!

I went to Kevin's memorial service this afternnon only to support another friend. I didn't even know it was the Kevin I knew in 12th grade at Killian. He was such a sweet person with amazing vocal talent. I was so shocked and sad when I realized it was him. He will be so missed. His family and friends will remain in my prayers. R.I.P. Kevin

What can I say in so little space, I think that everything I would want to say to Kevin about how he touched my life he already knows, because he is with us still and always will be

I remember working nights and weekends with Kevin at the Possible Dream, listening to him free style about whatever was in front of him, even when we were mopping the floor he would drop some rhyme about the mop and bucket!

Kevin was so wonderful with all of the children, but his special buddy was Michael. Michael loved Kevin so much in his own way and would light up when Kevin entered the room. I will always think of Kevin when I look at Mikey, especially when Mikey tries to wrestle with everyone, like Kevin taught him!

Kevin was a beautiful soul and his attitude and energy were infectious. He will truly be missed by all of us who were blessed to know him.

I think you understood me as a person, and of course a kid. But for some reason you never looked at me as what everyone had labeled us. I was just Mikey to you. You loved me and wanted me to grow, and most importantly you knew what I liked and encouraged me to listen. Singing to me was my fondest memory of you. Or how you would bring your new tracks and blast them. I sat barefoot with my ear as close to the music and would drool allover the speakers in the kitchen, while you got lunch or our medicine ready. I never had the words to thank you for honoring me, as a human being and loving me like a big brother, for who I really am. You will always be a sound to me and if I could speak I would say “thank you.”

Kevin understood the essence of the kids that he worked with at the Possible Dream Foundation; especially Mikey. It was a joy working with him, just observing the sincerity of a young man caring for these special humans. I remember how he used to call Mikey, almost like an Indian calling his young.

I have only the fondest memories of spending time with Kevin. I always looked forward to sitting back and hanging out with him. His enthusiasm, humor, friendliness, and talent was truly one of a kind. He was a genuine friend that will be missed immensely.

My heart goes out to Kevin's family.

The Rafky's were the first people I met when I moved to Miami in 1984. Kevin and I were best friends all the way to High School, and from age eight to fifteen, I don't think there was a single day that we did not see each other. Anita and David welcomed me as part of the family, and they even made me an "honorary Jew" to explain my observing so many years of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur at the house.

It is so sad to see the loss of Mother and Son in a single year, and it pains me to think that my best childhood friend is gone. David and Brian, my mind is full of fond memories of the great times that we spent together. Kevin, I did not know you as an adult, but the childhood memories are wonderful and plentiful, and I can imagine what a great person you grew into.

I attended West Lab School with Kevin in the 6th grade. I remember him as always being the one to make us laugh and smile. I'm delighted to read about the wonderful things he did with his life. I'm sure he touched many souls.

I've attached this picture that I had in an old scrapbook from the 6th grade. I hope seeing this photo will let Kevin have everyone smiling once again.

To the family- my thoughts and prayers are with you. I haven't seen or spoken to Kevin in more than 15 years. Based on what I read about him though, it sounds like he was a wonderful person.

Though we haven't spoken in years, I still consider him one of my great friends, back in the days of Kendalltown Clubhouse B-ball. Through middle school and high school, I never stopped laughing because of him. I'm happy to hear of the lives he blessed. Kevin, I'll always remember you.

I knew Kevin in elementary school. He was my boyfriend in fourth grade. Unfortunately,we lost touch after that. He was a a kind, caring, funny, wonderful person. He has always had and will always have a place in my heart...as will his family.

I was furtunate enough to meet the softer side of Kevin. He was full of emotion, expression and drive. Someone who was so tough on the outside yet so soft and sincere on the inside.

K...you left a great group of friends & family who I know you will be watching out for from above.

As a new parent I cannot imagine the loss and heartache your family and close friends are going through. May God give them the strength to go through this difficult time.
