I was saddened to hear about Daniel's passing when reading the Wake Forest Magazine today. I didn't know Daniel very well, but as project partners in a Wake business class, we did get to spend a lot of time together figuring our class problems. Luckily Daniel had a good sense of humour, because that homework was no fun! I remember thinking that Daniel was a really nice guy and I enjoyed his company and his genuine attitude. Later when I moved to DC, he was nice enough to go out of his way to assist me with my job search, which I really appreciated. I'm very sorry for your tragic loss and send to you my deepest sympathies.

I do not know you or your son Daniel, I happened to notice that he passes three years to the day that my 23 year old son passed. I just wanted to tell you I am sorry for your loss. Surround your self with family and friends talk about him often. Memories will keep him in your heart always. God bless you.

Daniel may you watch over us all and keep us safe. I remember when we were at Heritage together and how you couldn't keep still when you were nervous, after Heritage we both ended up at Palmer and I saw you grow out of the nervous Daniel and be known as DP no longer nervous but confident and a jock. You will always be remembered.

When I saw the name Pemsler in the column today, it brought back childhood memories of a friend, Barry, with whom I attended school in the Bronx. As I read the obituary and it became clear that Daniel was your son, I wanted to express my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

I never used to notice the obituaries but now I can't help but notice all the young people taken from us at such an early age. My heart aches for the families left behind. Occasionally I respond to the legacy guset book of someone I don't know because I have walked in your shoes. My son died in a tragic accident 3 years ago at the age of 24. He too was an amazing person loved by everyone and filled with potential. I read somewhere that losing a child is like losing a limb, you never stop longing for it's existence but learn to adjust to it's life altering affects and everyday is a challenge. That pretty much sums it up. All I can tell you is to keep going through the motions and you will survive. We never stop missing them but life goes on. Take comfort from those around you.
I know how dificult it is for you right now. If you ever want to talk don't hestitate to e-mail and I will give you my number.
