Betty Knight, 89, of Sarasota passed away at Tidewell Hospice House surrounded by her loving husband, daughter and granddaughter. She was born in New Rochelle, N.Y. to the late Nelson and Clara Brown. On Dec. 29, 1948, she married the love of her life, Douglas Knight and resided in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. until moving to Sarasota in 1978. Betty was an avid bridge player, enjoyed boating and spending summers in the mountains of North Carolina. Her sense of humor, love of life and people will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Douglas Knight of Sarasota; daughter, Nancy Knight (Steve) of Sarasota; son, Bruce Knight of Carlsbad, CA; and granddaughter, Jennifer Knight of Vail, CO. A Memorial Service will be held on Wed, Sept. 24, 2014 at 2:30 pm at the Sunnyside Chapel in Sunnyside Village, Sarasota. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Tidewell Hospice House.
