Nancy, Heidi, Rick, Chris and Mary,
I just learned of Dick's passing this evening. I am deeply saddened just thinking of Dick and all those many years at ROCC and the good times we shared. Dick opened his heart and home to me and I will always remember and appreciate the many important life lessons he taught me.
I have a special place in my heart for the entire Harmon family and my thoughts and prayers are with you during this very trying time.

The Harmon Family,
Our sincere condolences are with all of you. Dick left a strong impact on my daughter's life. Jenna was a student of his for several years. He not only taught her all about golf, but also about life. She truly loved Dick. She has his picture hanging on her UTSA college golf bag. My Mom, Margaret Miller, was the one who mostly took Jenna to her golf lessons, so got the pleasure of knowing Dick much better than I did. He was a special person. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Anna and Jenna Wessels and Margaret & Gus Miller

Nancy, Rick, Chris, Heidi, and Mary
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. He had the most amazing and uncanny ability to deeply impact almost everyone he came into contact with. He was so good to me, my brother, and my son and helped us all in so many ways that cannot be counted. Words cannot express the void his passing leaves in all who knew him. We will keep all of you in our prayers during this most difficult time.

Dear Nancy, Mary, Rick, Chris, Butch, Craig, Billy and Dick's two sisters,
You ment everything to Dick and he loved you all so much. I was lucky to be a friend and it moved me when he talked about you all. He was off course a great golf pro but he was most off all a great human being, generous, always trying to help and nice with everyone. One off a kind!
It is such a huge loss and I am going to miss him...
I present my sincere condolences to his family.

Heidi and Harmon Family,
I am just so sad for you and your family. I have such wonderful memories of growing up with your family and your dad making me laugh every time I came to your home. Just reading all of these wonderful notes from everyone should give you such comfort in knowing what a very special husband, dad, brother and friend Dick was. I will miss him.

Dear Mrs. Harmon,
I believe these guest books are "tacky". I will write you a note.
I am so sorry about Dick...
We had some fun times with Mike Malloy when Dick's father was the Pro at Winged Foot and went into NYC to visit Mike and Lucy...
I also recall taking care of his fathers dogs...if I recall correctly,
Flooy and Clooy......
May God Bless Dick and you and your family at this sad time.
I am sure Dick and Mike Malloy are playing "lights out" in Heaven.
God Bless,
Sandy Bliss

Dick was always wonderful to all the children of River Oaks. He especially treated my boys, Chuck and David, with kindness and patience, and I have always appreciated his attitude towards them. He taught golf to them individually, ran a super summer golf camp which they attended for many years, and most of all, gave the boys his friendship. He made all the kids feel comfortable playing golf at ROCC - made them feel at home, since he taught them not only how to play the game, but also how to act on the course. He is one of the key reasons my kids love the game so much. He was always great to me, also, and he will be sorely missed by all of us.

Dick Harmon was not only the best golf teacher i've ever had, but one of the nicest people i've ever met in my life. He went out of his way to please others and his benevolence and sincerity were never-ending. I couldn't have possibly thanked him enough for everything, on and off the course, that he did for me. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Nancy and family,
Karen and I have only the fondest memories of our two years in Houston and my experience with Dick at River Oaks. Dick's generosity and caring came pouring out everyday. In his presence I laughed harder than ever before and learned more than anywhere else I had ever been. His love of the game and his passion for teaching it to his students was truly inspirational. My success owes so much to Dick that I will never be able to repay; but memories of all of my experiences in his presence will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and may the good memories help guide you at this difficult time.

In the hallowed ground of an old, old cemetery in this place of Dick's McKee ancestry, the town where his mother was born and lived until her marriage, one particular monument's inscription comes to mind as I read these wonderful, heart-felt and heart-warming tributes: "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." Richard McKee Harmon does, indeed, live in many, many hearts he has left behind.

I was honored to have met Dick in 1998. That year, I was so excited to see him on the same plane I was on heading to Augusta to watch the Masters for the first time. His brother, Butch, was on the cover of Golfweek magazine that week and I believe had won an award...Dick says, "Did you see my brother?!" He was very proud. As a member of Champions Golf Club, I enjoyed seeing him each year at the locker room "Rhubarb" tourney. He always remembered me, always had a warm smile and firm handshake. He will be missed by many he touched with his love of the game of golf. Thank you, Dick. My prayers are with the whole family.

We shall miss him greatly and have tremendous void in our lives without him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Nancy,
Dick is a life-time punctuation mark. First class gentleman and student of golf. I ran into him at Tommy V's here in Carlsbad last Tuesday night. It was like old home week remembering the fun of the golf shop end of season parties, bunker shots and other hopeless cases. Dick finished 6 and 5, leaving the rest of us to finish with the hope of more joy to come. Nancy, my prayers are for God's blessing and comfort for you and your family.

Nancy, Heidi, Ricky, Chris and Mary,
Jan and I were so saddened to hear Dick had passed into his eternal life. I can't imagine your pain but know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Dick was a very special person and you are a very special family. Dick was a great teacher of the game of golf and followed admirably in the footsteps of his father. However, when I think of what most impressed me about Dick over the many years that I knew him, it had to be his humbleness and profound love for his family. A quick chat with Dick always resulted in a great golf story but quickly migrated to you, Nancy, and to the kids and grandchildren. Dick to me will always be a great teacher of life.
Jan and I cannot make it to the celebration of Dick's life but know we are with you in spirit. Let the tears flow for a period then be sustained with the many fond and wonderful memories you made over the years with Dick, father and grandpa.
Love,
Jan and Ershel

I was deeply saddened when I learned of Dick's passing. I count myself as one of the fortunate few who had the opportunity to work with Dick and learn from him. During my three years at River Oaks Dick shared with me his passion and knowledge of the game. Watching his interaction with members and other club employees was a perpetual learning experience for me. I credit Dick with helping me achieve the career success that I have today. I pray God's blessings on Dick and his entire family.

Mr. Harmon was kind enough to give my dad an extensive lesson a few years ago. As an observer I learned more golf in that 2 hours than I could have ever imagined. The best lesson that I took away was what I fine gentelman Mr. Harmon was.I know that the gentelmanly example that he showed the many junior golfers was a more important lesson than the golf that taught them.
