Sarah Jane Worth Belt Sarah Jane Belt died at home, with her family around her, in Meridian, ID on Jan. 24, 2009. She was born in Cumberland, Maryland on Aug. 5, 1928 to Francis Alga Worth and Anna Elizabeth Barnett Worth. She graduated from Chambersburg Pennsylvania High School, Millersville State Teachers College and earned her Masters in Library Science at Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York. As children's and bookmobile Librarian, she worked in Dayton, Ohio and Wenatchee, Wash. In the early years of television, she was the host of Miss Jane's Story Hour on public access TV. She also helped develop the State Library Program from her office at North Central Library in Wenatchee. In 1959, she married Paul Franklin Belt with whom she had two children. In 1967, she returned to work for Central Washington Hospital School of Nursing in Wenatchee. Later, this Library became the Central Washington Hospital Library where she assisted doctors, staff, and community. She earned her 25 year pin for service. Library activities included membership in the Washington State Medical Librarians Association where she was the first recipient of their librarian award in 1980 and the Pacific North West Medical Librarians Association where she was President in 1981. She also received the first two grants given to hospital libraries from the Western Hospital Association for the state's first Med Line in Eastern Washington. She moved to Meridian, Idaho in 2003 where she enjoyed reading, photography, working on genealogy and car touring throughout Idaho and Eastern Oregon. She also enjoyed her friends and worship at Hillview United Methodist Church in Boise. She is survived by her daughter Anna Belt, son-in-law Gordon Fradenburgh, and grand-daughter Freya Fradenburgh. She was preceded in death by her parents, half-siblings, Esther Worth LeCrone and Bayard Worth, husband, Paul Franklin Belt and her son, Victor James Belt. The family would like to thank Ten Thousand Villages Boise, Mom's beautiful neighbors at Chamberlain Estates, her many loyal friends, niece Barbara Potts, the firemen of Meridian #3, the crew of Liberty Dialysis and Accent Hospice for their kindness, skill and compassion that enabled her to stay in her home in her last months. A celebration of Sarah Jane's life will be held Sat. Jan. 31, 2009, 1 p.m., at Hillview United Methodist Church on Ustick in Boise. Memorials can be made to your local library or historical society.
