William Davis Obituary
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with the Rev. Donald Reece officiating. Burial will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens.
He was in the seafood business for more than 70 years, including wholesale and retail markets in Harkers Island, Beaufort and Morehead City; helped pioneer the headboat and sportfishing business in Morehead City; and was active with his son in operating the Continental Shelf, which sails from the Morehead City waterfront.
Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Rosalie Lewis Davis; three daughters, Virginia L. Davis, Nancy L. Davis and Olivia Ann Bass; two sons, William Oliver Davis Jr. and Richard K. Davis; sisters, Hilda Willis, Sarah Jarvis, Dare Guthrie, Rebecca Willis, and Leona Hall; brothers, Stacey M. Davis, Harvey Clark Davis, and Leslie "Sonny" Davis; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Munden Funeral Home and at the home following the service.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Hospice of Carteret County, c/o Carteret General Hospital, 3500 Arendell St., Morehead City, NC 28557.
