JOPLIN, Mo. — Marilyn Ann Tyler, age 71, of 2416 Trenton, died at 10:10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at St John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., following a one-week illness. Mrs. Tyler was born Sept. 7, 1938, in Independence, Kan. Her parents were Harold and Violet (Fessler) Haberly. She had lived in Joplin most of her life. She graduated from Joplin High School in 1956. She last worked as a tram driver at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin. Prior to that, she worked several years as a clerk at Precious Moments, Carthage, Mo. She was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Joplin, where she sang in the choir and participated in a ladies Bible study. She enjoyed scrapbooking and loved to read. Marilyn was married to John Tyler on Aug. 31, 1957, in Joplin. He survives. Additional survivors include three sons, Curtis Tyler (wife, Vilma), Geneva, Switzerland, Bob Tyler (wife, Lea Ann), Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kevin Tyler (wife, Lena), Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Kathleen Hall, Joplin; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, Kan. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home. Pastor Matt Derfelt will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bruce and Judy Ellard, Terry and Sharon Struve, Bob and Carol Livingston, and Randy and Dorothy Corp. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at Fairview Cemetery, Joplin. Her sons will speak at the graveside.Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, Joplin, in care of the funeral home.
