I was a frequent visitor to Karen's blog and sometime email correspondent. She was a faith filled person who bore her cross with a dignity that inspires. She will be missed by many who never met her in person, but were inspired by her witness.

As the parish nurse of Gesu, I had the opportunity to work closely with Karen at times when she was a member here. I will remember her for her positive and inspiring attitude despite her physical challenges. She was a blessing to many, especially our dear friend Peter. Thank you Karen!

When I was a small child, Karen lived next door to my family in North Hill. She was my age and she and my sister Laura and I often played together. I remember, most vividly, her asking, if 'Cheecha and Yodie' could come out and play.
The names stuck.
Our dad called my sister and I 'Cheecha and Yodie' our entire lives until he passed away this past November.
I'm truly sorry that I never had the opportunity to thank her for our nicknames.
My condolences.

I was friends with Karen all throughout grade school at Indian Springs Elementary. I lost touch with her after she left town but I often wondered where she was and what she was doing. She was a very intelligent, special person, and I wish I could have spoken with her before she left us. My condolences to the family and feel free to contact me. (I am going to try to make it to the calling hours.)

I met Karen almost 25 years ago through a close friend. If memory serves, Karen was working on her Master's degree in Theology at Marquette at the time. She possessed an impressive intellect, a wide array of knowledge, and a sense of humor both verbal and "punny." She was also a dedicated employee of the Milwaukee library system, who always gave of her utmost.
