Sometime, somewhere in life some of us are blessed with a special and enduring friendship. We may not take notice of it or know exactly when it began, but one day we wake up and realize that someone special has come into our lives. They fill a niche in our life and give us cause and motive to be a better person.
For almost 30 years, Paul was my special friend. We spent social and professional time together in many different locations and situations. My other friends and clients were drawn to Paul, as well, and always wanted to spend time with him when he visited New Mexico. As his life took different directions and paths, we weren’t as close as we had been in the earlier years. But time and distance didn’t impair or diminish our friendship. Paul was always the steadfast, unassuming, loyal, giving man no matter how long it had been since we had talked or seen each other. Paul’s nature was to be part of the background – it seemed that he never wanted to push to the front of the line, to be noticed or praised, or to be recognized as somebody that is really special. But let me tell you, he was special: In every way.
Paul has gone on now but I won’t forget him or what he has meant to me. The niche in my life will be filled now with his memory. Thanks, Paul, for being my friend and for helping to make me a better man. You are missed.

I too am very sorry to hear about Paul's accident. It is a tragedy.
I worked for many years with Paul on projects with the American Farrier's Association and Bluegrass Horseshoers Association. I have great memories of our efforts, particularly in 1988, when Paul planned and orchestrated the first-ever convention of the AFA in his home town of Lexington.
I am the publisher of Hoofcare & Lameness Journal; Paul was one of our first subscribers.
I have written a story about him on my "blog" and will also make sure that obituaries appear in other places in the farrier world. Paul had many friends who will be sad to hear this news.
If there is anything I can do or contribute in his memory, please contact me.
