Horace Hauk Obituary

HAUK, HORACE B. (BUD) - of Sweetwater, TN, age 67, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008. He was born on April 29, 1941 in Kingsport, TN to the late Horace B. and Betty Mae Holt Hauk. He is survived by his wife, Gerry; son, Richard Blake Hauk and fiancé Susanne Brown and her children, Warren and Heather. His adopted family consists of Mark, Pam and Ashlan Hines; Dave, Missy, Jake and Samantha Higginson; Mark, Kristin, Kyle, Kaley and Sarah Holmstrom. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Holt Hauk and wife Carolyn; brother-in-law, Jason K. and Eleanor Cox; sister-in-law, Loetta Chase; aunts: Faye Hauk, Joyce Hauk, Mary Denton, Bernice Lemons, Bernice Holt, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and Emory and Henry College. He received his Master of Theology from Southern Methodist University. He spent his life fulfilling his love and duties as a United Methodist Minister and was under appointment for 49 years. Bud served churches in Bristol, TN; Fittstown, OK; Mascot, TN; Chilhowee, VA; Maryville, TN; Sweetwater, TN; Kingsport, TN; the Knoxville District of the United Methodist Church; Hixson, TN; Sevierville, TN. Following retirement he served the New Hope and Philadelphia United Methodist Churches until September 1, 2008. A private internment was held Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at New Hope Cemetery. A memorial service celebrating the life of Horace B. Hauk will be held at Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 and following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Church in Sweetwater, Tennessee and to Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Philadelphia, Tennessee. He is and all is well.
