Mrs. McCurry,
I just found out about Ben leaving us. I wish I could have been there. He was the best Sunday School Teacher I've ever had. I am still influenced by things he taught and practiced. He was a good man.

Dear Frances, Ginger, Beverly, David, and the rest of the family I didn't get the opportunity to meet.
Mr. Ben was a very special person, and I'm thankful I got to know him and Mrs. Frances. You both will always hold a special place in my heart, because you both have the love of God in your heart.
May God give you love, peace, and joy during this time. I will keep you all in my prayers. Mrs. Frances keep the JOY, and spread it to others around you.

He speaks to all of us who have stood or will stand in the soft dirt near an open grave. And to us he gives this confident word: "I want you to know what happens to a Christian when he dies so that when it happens, you will not be full of sorrow, as those are who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and then came back to life again, we can also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him all the Christians who have died" (1 Thess. 4:13-14TLB).

Ben was such a sweet and gentle man. He was like my Daddy away from home while I was at UT, I knew he would do anything for me. He will be greatly missed, but I know he is praising God in heaven right now. Our family loves you all.

I personally share in your loss and feel as if I have lost my own Father. Mr. Ben was the "Ward Cleaver" of Fathers, but with a sense of humor. When I think of what kind of Father that I want to be to my own son, I think of him and my own Father. Some of my best childhood memories are of Mr. Ben and your family. I thank him and all of you for that wonderful gift. I love you all and think of you often.

Because Daddy had such a presence and an enormous place in our lives and hearts, we must remember he is still watching over us. We have to stay strong and make him proud! We will get through this with the Lord's guidance. I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH! Aunt Francis and all, I know over the years we have not stayed in touch as we do not get back to Knoxville as often as we would like to since moving to Atlanta so many years ago and for that I am truley sorry. It is times like this that make me realize how presciuos life really is which is something I know in my heart Ben figured out a long time ago, because he lived it EVERYDAY. WE are all so sorry for your loss, but know for sure Ben is in a better place, without the pain of this world and with the true certainty that oneday we will all cross that river and be reunited with him once again. Please know that we are all thinking of each and everyone of you in this hour of deepest sorrow as we have been there before. Aunt Frances,David,Tammy,Ginger,Beverly and Daniel, I am so sorry that you all have to go through this but the Lord needed Uncle Ben now. He and my dad are probally fishing now. Can you imagine that.
