Nell Proffitt Obituary

PROFFITT, NELL DALLAS - age 97 of Old Highway 63, Speedwell, TN, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Hillcrest North Nursing Home in Knoxville. Mrs. Proffitt was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Speedwell. Preceded in death by: her husband, Otis Asro Proffitt; parents, Jim and Martha Jane Overbay Lumpkins; son, Billy Proffitt; daughters, Betty Jean Marlow and Ottie Proffitt Smith; 2 grandchildren, Caleb Proffitt and Barry Lynn Rogers; brother, James Lumpkins; sisters, Iola, Gladys, Ruth, Bonnie, Madge and Leotta "Dot". Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, James Hugh Proffitt, New Market, TN, John Harold and Pat Proffitt, Knoxville, TN, George Emerson and Jean Proffitt, Oak Ridge, TN; Donald Richard and Joyce Proffitt, Speedwell, TN; daughter, Helen Jane and Bill Rogers, New Market, TN; 21 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; sons-in-law, Bill Smith, Speedwell; Jim Marlow, Mason, Ohio and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral 2 pm Tuesday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Donald Proffitt and Bro. Mark Fowler officiating. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Interment Beeler Cemetery, Speedwell. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Monday at Martin Wilson Funeral Home, LaFollette, TN.
