Virginia "Ginny" Scott Stickney
Marcia Virginia Jensen was born on Jan. 4, 1922 in Yakima, WA, the second of three daughters born to Edward and Marcia (Gibler) Jensen. She graduated from Yakima Senior High School in 1940, and then the adventure really began. She spent a year working in Texas, returned to Yakima, worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration and married Lee L. "Jim" Scott, a Marine Corps pilot, in 1944. They lived in Jacksonville, Florida, on other military bases and eventually moved back to Ellensburg, WA. By the end of 1956, Ginny and Jim had four daughters and four sons. Always having room for more, they welcomed two foster children. Once her youngest child started school, Ginny returned to the business arena, working for five years at the Ellensburg KXLE radio station. In 1966, she, Jim and the kids moved to California to the area now known as "Silicon Valley." Ginny dived into what would become her major career, which was in electronics purchasing. She was one of the first women to become a Certified Purchasing Agent in the Bay Area of California and enjoyed her work at Measurex Corporation for ten years. When she and Jim returned to Washington, she finished her very successful career at Data I/O Corporation in Redmond. In 1985, Ginny earned her Bachelor's degree from City University in Business Science, at the wonderful age of 63. She and Jim moved back to Ellensburg in 1983 . After Jim died in 1989, Ginny commuted to work on the west side for about a year, then returned to Ellensburg. She married Bruce Stickney in 1994 and they enjoyed a short but very happy time together spent mostly in Keizer, Oregon. After Bruce died in 1997, Ginny returned to Ellensburg and spent 13 happy and very active years involved with her family, the Ellensburg First Presbyterian Church, the Craft Group, the Study Club, the Bible Study Club, her Scholarship Luncheon group, and (last but definitely not least!) the Ladies 18-hole Golf Division. She traveled pretty much all over the country to spend time with her kids and grandkids, now numbering 20, and her great grandkids, now numbering 16, all of whom she cherished. She also traveled all over the state to golf tournaments, where she won several awards for having the most kids and grandkids, not to mention awards for her actual golfing skills. Although she would never want to brag on herself as a member of The Greatest Generation, she was, and she exemplified the values, goals and ethics of that generation: family, faith, friends, patriotism, service. Ginny never met a stranger; she had a special knack for finding a connection with every person she encountered.

She is preceded by her parents, her sisters Vada and Eleanor, infant brother Woodrow, her husbands Jim and Bruce, and many friends.

She is survived by all of her children: Melou, Cindy and Bob Gregoire, Linc and Ann , Gentry & Marilyn, Kelley and Lan Mills, Jim and Shauna, Ginna and Jim Traina and Stewart and Marie, her 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and an incredible number of friends.

At her request, there will be no service. Ginny "laid her heady down" on January 14, 2011, ten days after her 89th birthday.
