Beverly "Jean" Sperline, 83, of Ellensburg, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011 at Yakima Regional Medical Center. Jean was born in Oakland, CA on January 21, 1928 to Marion and Myrtle (Campbell) Hoagland. She married Lester Sperline on August 21, 1946 in Salinas, CA and together they started a life of sixty-five years together. Jean loved riding horses and her life on the ranch. She had been a member of the Rodeo Valley Riders in the 50's and 60's. Jean had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, yodel, and play guitar with the Old Time Fiddlers in the 70's and 80's. She had a passion for gardening and grew bountiful vegetable gardens and beautiful flowers. She was very creative and loved to paint in acrylics. Jean had a great sense of humor and could always find the good in a situation or a person. She was always willing to lend an ear and console a friend or family member. She loved taking drives in the country with her husband. During their retirement years she loved driving to Southern Arizona to spend winters exploring the Southwest with her loving husband, Les. Jean had a faith in God and loved looking at and exploring his creation, particularly the ocean, which she was passionate about. Most of all, she was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was everything to her and she was everything to her family. She always took care of everyone and wanted everyone to be happy. She loved family "get togethers" to celebrate special occasions or "just because". She is lovingly survived by her faithful husband of 65 years; Les Sperline of Ellensburg, Three sons: Greg Sperline of Ellensburg, Jim and wife Sandy Sperline of Ellensburg, Roy and wife Joy Sperline of Mineral, WA. Two daughters: Jana and husband Vern Goates of Stanwood, WA. And Nancy Sperline of Colbert, WA. Two brothers; Robert (Butch) Hoagland of Henderson, NV and Jerry Hoagland of Salinas, CA. Seven Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Randy, and one daughter-in-law, Barbara. A grand Celebration of Jean's Life will be held at a later date. My Grandma was one of the hardest working women I know. Up until the very end she was taking care of Grandpa, baking cookies for her grandkids and great grandkids, working in her garden only to give most of it away. I miss her smile and her always kind words, but most of all her hugs!! I'm so thankful my kids got to know their Nana but am so sad she won't get to see them grow up! It always amazed me that every time we stopped by she would have a new toy or book or game for the little kids. But that's just how she was...giving!! We will take care of Grandpa, but he is lost without you! We miss you everyday Grandma/Nana!!!

Mom,
You were the most wonderful Mother a person could ask for. You were always there for me growing up and as an adult and I will miss our talks and spending time together. You always knew how to see the good in a situation and always had the right thing to say to make it all better. You taught me everything I know and I can only aspire to be as beautiful, kind and loving as you were. Thank you Mom, for everything. I know you are in a better place now but I miss you so much. I love you Mom.
Love Nancy

I do not believe I ever had the pleasure of meeting your mother here on earth, but I so want to meet her on the other side and look forward to that day. I thank her for giving me the gift of my friend, Jana. You mean so much to me, gal and I love you with a never ending love. My prayers are with you and your family as you walk the walk ahead of you, and I pray for those tears to soon turn to smiles and the memories of good times with your mother to be there for embracing every day of your life. It is so assuring to know that while they can never return to us, we can go to them. Love, Rita Brenke

Mom, I am so honored to have had you in my life for the past 40 years and be a part of your family. It's be so nice having you live within walking distance, especially all the times when I was baking and didn't have an ingredient, I'd tell Jim, gotta run down to Mom's and borrow this or that! I must owe you a dozen eggs by now!! We will all take good care of Dad for you. Jim says I have to start cooking more (Lord help me!!), as we all know Dad likes his meat and potatoes!! You will always be in our hearts - love and miss you so much!!

As a kid, I use to hang out with Roy at the Sperline home. Mrs. Sperline was always so fun to be around and a nurturing mother to her family. I know that her smile and positive attitude will be greatly missed.

Uncle Les and family, I know your memories will give you strength and keep her love alive. The last time I had the opportunity to see “My Cowboy Aunt Jean, we talked about horses and she said to me she really missed her horses. I could see that look in her eyes picturing them. I know that look well myself and saw it so much in my Dad. Thoughts of her will be with me always. Love & Prayers to you all. Debbie Sperline
