Dorothy Briggs Obituary

Dorothy Nies Briggs, 94, passed away Saturday at Royal Vista Care Center in Ellensburg.

She was born in Oak Creek, Colorado, near Steamboat Springs, in 1916. She grew up in Erie, then a small coal mining town, now a suburb of Boulder. She really was a coal miner's daughter. She lived most of her life in Denver with her husband, Jim Briggs, who pre-deceased her. She moved to Ellensburg in 1998.

"Dottie" or "Mamacita", as she liked to be called, is survived by sons James (Sue) and Ken (Diane) Briggs, both of Ellensburg. She has four grandchildren: Mandi Tate and Jamie Youngquist both of Ellensburg and Amy Maher of Kirkland, Washington and Jay Briggs of Chantilly, Virginia. She has eight great-grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her spunky humor, her love of family, friends, faith and a good party. Her caring and fun spirit will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at Royal Vista, Saturday March 26th, at 2:00pm.
