James Crews Obituary

James Weger "Jim" Crews, 74, of Kent, WA, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Franciscan Hospice House. He was born Aug. 8, 1936 in Allison Township, Lawrence County, Illinois. He was married to the late Janice Ann Shiver on Oct. 9, 1965 in Carson City, Nevada. They moved to Renton where he worked for Boeing before he and Jan retired and moved to Ellensburg in Oct. 1997. Jim was a farm boy at heart, and though he lived in the Seattle area for a number of years, when he retired he moved "back to the farm." He quickly became known amongst the local farmers as the guy who could fix almost anything. He loved to tinker with anything mechanical and was brilliant at it. One of his favorite yearly activities was hunting, but he also enjoyed photography, off-road jeep racing, and gun collecting.  After Jan passed away in 2005, he moved to Kent in 2009 to be closer to his family. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include five daughters: Sharon Kay (Brian K.) Shoup of Pueblo West, CO; Teresa Archer of Tulalip, WA; Jenny Lynn (Peter) Alvarez of Buckley, WA; Mary Kathryn (David M.) Kozy of Kent, WA; and Sierra Lynn (Tyler D.) Fisher of Renton, WA. He is also survived by two brothers, John Crews of Hagerstown, MD and Phil Crews of Malabar, FL, as well as a sister, Kay Grenda of Corona, CA. Survivors also include ten grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested to Franciscan Hospice House, 2901 Bridgeport Way West, University Place, WA 98466.
