Marie Hearn Obituary

HEARN, Marie Beloved mother to Lonnie Teper, and sister to Dorothy Lamacchia, lost her long and courageous battle with emphysema on Wednesday night, January 21, 2009 at the age of 87 at the Villa Scalabrini Retirement and Special Care facility in Sun Valley. Marie Geraldine Bruno was born on February 23, 1921, in Erie, PA, before matriculating to Southern California as a young adult. She spent most of her life in the San Gabriel Valley. A talented secretary, Marie worked at both North American Rockwell and Electromotive and volunteered at the San Marino-San Pasadena YMCA after her retirement in 1985. Marie, known for her charismatic personality, moved to the Villa from her Alhambra residence in February, 2002, and was eventually honored with the moniker "Miracle Woman" by the staff at the Villa for her amazing ability to bounce back several times over from what appeared to be life ending conditions. Her usual wit and humor was present until the end; just prior to her death, she quipped to Lonnie and Dorothy, "All the men around here are crazy about me--I don't know why." A graveside burial will take place Friday, at 11 a.m. at the San Fernando Mission Cemetary in Mission Hills.

I never had the honor of meeting Ms.Hearn, but from what I've read in this obit, it's clear where Lonnie got his terrific sense of humor and wit. May she rest in pease, and my sincerest condolences to Lonnie and his aunt.
