Bryan Littlefield Obituary

Bryan "Whitey" Littlefield 1932-2008 "The world has lost a unique individual" Whitey Littlefield, one of a kind, with a heart as big as California, has lost his long battle with prostate cancer. Many who knew Whitey knew the community activist, party guy and Budweiser distributor. We knew and loved Whitey as a family man. Whitey leaves behind h is wife and love of 20 years, Meg and children Lori, Linda, Bryan and Shari. He was also a father figure to Susan Shey Dvonch (Jeff), Meg's sister, and Joe Ferraro, (Samantha) Meg's brother, who were there daily to care for him. He was grandfather to Jennifer Stein, Amber and Tara and a beloved great grandpa to Josh and Sydney, Jennifer and Seth's lovely children and dozens of nieces and nephews. Whitey leaves two brothers, Gary, who has been at his side throughout his illness, and Ray, his sister Gloria, s isters-in-law, Geraldine, wife of Gary, and Florence, Ray's wife. Whitey was preceded in death by sisters Ruby, June, Karma and Marge and his parents Ella and Ernest Lavar Littlefield. Special thanks to Aunt Peg McClure who put her life on hold for months to be chief cook, shopper and assistant to Meg and Whitey. His mother-in-law and friend, Debby Harding and father-in-law, Michael Harding will miss him as will Nancy Ferraro and father-in-law, Sonny Ferraro and their children, Caroline, Grace (Ron) and St eve (Meg). He was a devoted godfather to Natasha and Nicole Krider, Lauren and Katie Dvonch, Bryan Morris and Richard Tracy. His best friends, John Morris and Sonny Golden, as well as the Sinatra family, will miss him as will we all. We must thank his caregivers, Willie, Travis and Nico for their help during Whitey's final days and all Meg and Whitey's friends for walking their three dogs and sending meals to the house to feed the many friends and family members. Although Meg could not keep up with the hund reds of calls, notes and good wishes of friends, she is grateful for their kindness and also grateful for her 20 years with Whitey, her endless love. Who can forget the times Whitey took all the little children in the family to "The Nutcracker" in limousines. He did this for many years to two generations of children who still remember this dress-up night as little princes and princesses. There were so many acts of kindness to friends, family and strangers. He didn't talk about them, but we know the extent o f his generosity. His heart and home were open to all. We remember Whitey not as a public figure, but as our husband, sibling, relative and friend, one who was always an extraordinarily kind and generous man. We remember Whitey with smiles at having known him and sadness at having lost him. He was bigger than life and we never thought he would leave us. He was born on Christmas day and hope he's having a big holiday party with the many friends and relatives who have preceded him. A memorial service is sched uled for 2 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the First Congregational Church, 241 Cedar, in downtown Long Beach. A celebration of Whitey's life will follow at Smooth's Sports Grille, 144 Pine Avenue. Donations may be made to Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI), 5777 W. Century Blvd, Suite 800, Los Angeles, CA 90045 (310) 743-2116 www.prostate-cancer.org

May God lift the anguish of your bereavement and leave you only the cherished memory of your loved one. My son & I are the AB wholesalers in Athens & Gainesville, GA. I will be 71 in May. Whitey & I met on the Colorado River, shooting the rapids, down in the Grande Canyon back in the early '70's. We had won the trip in an AB sales contest. We looked each other up at all the National Sales Conventions. I will remember Whitey as one of the great ones. We had the same personality, if you can imagine. Love to all the family from an old friend from far away.

Whitey Littlefield walk with the Gods . He was a very special man who cared deeply about people. I worked for a friend of his for years(Nathan Golden) so I would talk to Whitey maybe twice a day or more. He always made me laugh and that is what I will remember. So Whitey here's to all the smiles and jokes you shared with me. I will always carry you in my heart. Thank you for being you.Meg there are no words I can say to make you feel better but I know you were loved and not many people can say that. And Whitey and Mr.Sinatra are having a drink to you right now.

i am Wyatt Sonny Golden. my father was a very close friend of his. Soon I was too. I do not feel that he died. I just feel that he went away. I know he passed away but I would not be surprised if i saw him in Seal Beach. after his funeral we went to Smooths bar and grill. Whitey took me there for a pizza and a root beer 2 years earlier after picking me up from camp Catalina Island. He was a great friend.

In the short time I knew Whitey (and Meg), he showed me such fun, compassion and acceptance. He smoothed over rough spots from the very first time we met until the last time I saw him. I'm forever grateful for the love and generosity Whitey has shown me and that he has spread to his community. Biggest love to all who will miss him.

My wife never got a chance to meet Whitey but when I explain that he was the guy that everybody respected in business, was powerful but very personable, was able to use the F word in every sentence (in a pleasant way), and was my mentor in finding my very own italian wife... then she gets it. Thank you for your wisdom, your true friendship, and your crazy humor...

Whitey was one of those unique individuals that comes along, if we are lucky, once in a lifetime. I was blessed to have the privilege of getting to know the 'pot of gold' inside. My heart goes out to Meg and all of his family as they learn to experience life now. Keep the good times present always.
