I thought of you today. The times we hung out before school in the hallways and playing on the field. I wish we could turn back the clock to those days. You were one of the most easy going, up beat people in school. There arent enough thanks for your sacrifice my friend. I look forward to one day hanging out with you again in heaven. Until then RIH my friend.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Jeffrey, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Dearest Corban Family,
I know that I am so very late in showing my gratitude and sorrow for your son/husband/father/brother.
Jeff and I were in high school together. We were in VICA too. We were fairly close friends back then. He was the State Pres and I was the State VP. Anyway, I am so grateful to have the memories of him. We used to ride to our meetings together and he would always play his Van Halen tapes...and very loudly I might add.
He brought his airbrush gun with him one time and we stayed up late drinking Mt.Dew and painting a mural for the next days skit. We met so many people and made so many friends. Everyone loved Jeff. He always wanted to be a Navy Seal...he'd tell me. I admired him for that. He was so smart and so funny. I knew he was going to do something great in his life. And he did...even though it was cut short... He served his country with pride, respect, honor and love.
I am so sorry for your loss, for my loss and for the loss to everyone in the world who hadn't met him.
Please know that my heart is with you always and I think about him and know he's in a peaceful and loving place.
Sincerely,
Amy Strickler~Barnett

With the deepest regret, I have just learned of the death of Specialist Corban. As a Vietnam Veteran and the State Chaplain of the Georgia Society, Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, Charlie A. Newcomer, III and the more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. His life and his love of country epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe him ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… his family!!!
August 14, 2007
There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To the Family of Spc. Jeffrey W. Corban:
Your son's name, along with our sons, is forever together on a Memorial standing at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, PA. Their dogtags hang together forever moving with the wind creating a subtle sound, like the quiet whispers of the Fallen as they continue to speak to us. Attending this Memorial Dedication and hearing your child's name being read along with ours, has prompted me to sign this soldier's guestbook.
If your child can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 as well and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for right now. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten . You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

I heard late about Jeff's passing, and I only now came across this guest book. The Corban family and Jeff have been often in my mind the last months.
Jeff was my neighbor and close friend growing up. I will always remember running our legs off, playing guns in our ajoining yards, and wandering about all those woods in Indiana.
I just wish I could have seen him. I wish we could have met again as men and not boys. Nothing can make up for this loss, and the world has one less light.

Dear Corbann Family,
Words cannot describe our sorrow for your loss. We didn’t know Jeffrey but I am sure he was an outstanding human being. His dedication to his country, and his willingness to go in harm’s way to protect our way of life speak volumes for his character.
Your sacrifice cannot be fully understood by anyone who hasn’t been there, but we can tell you that Jeffrey did not die in vain. My father served in the Navy in WWII, my husband in the Army, and our son-in-law is currently a Marine. Freedom is not free, and the sacrifice made by your family is the ultimate tribute to our country.
God Bless you and your family in this time of need, and for all times. Know that there are many, many Americans who cry with you for your loss, wish we could enfold you in our arms, and thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

To the Family and Friends of Jeff,
No matter how old or how young, one life lost, is one life too many. We are still trying to get our lives back in order after losing our beloved Granddaughter, A1C Elizabeth N. Jacobson, a Security Forces Blue Beret, who lost her life in Iraq, 9-28-05. She is now guarding the gates in Heaven while waiting for Jeff, and we want you to know that he will not be forgotten and hope that you will be as proud of him for serving as we were of Elizabeth. Without our children this Country would not be what it is today, whether from the first War for freedom until today's wars, we give our lives so Freedom can be obtained. I wish it was different, but unfortunately, it is going to be someone's loved one. May G-d bless our troops, and hopefully, someday Freedom and Peace will reign, so they all can be brought home safely.
No matter what type of accident or act of war, a loss of a child or friend is very traumatic, I know that it isn't much consolation, I hope that you know that there are others that feel your pain and thank you for allowing him to serve. He will always be a hero in the hearts of many.
Elizabeth's motto was "We're only on Earth for a little while, so live life to the fullest and carry a smile."

Dear Joy, Steve and Tyler,
NO MAN could ask for a finer son, husband, father, brother, and soldier than Jeff was. He has crossed the bridge and now stands arm-around-shoulder with his great-great-grandfather Civil War veteran, his gradfather WWII veteran, his uncles, cousins and the countless others who served and died in our family and for our country in every conflict we have ever had.
He has had his dining-in and he has been shown his quarters. Now he is comfortable. I salute him with all my respect during this most difficult time of my life. Jeff's KIA leaves a permanent black hole in our souls.
I pray now with you that his honor and integrity live on in us, his sons and forevermore.

Dear Joy and Family,
I picked up the Elkhart Truth this am. and another Hero has passed away. I share your pain and greif. We can only ask the good Lord to Help us through this difficult time. I called B-100 Radio and ask that they dedicate a song in your husband honor, they did and they also ask for prayers of the listeners to go out for you and your family. I myself have a son in the 1st. marine Div., Camp Pendleton. He is to go to Iraq, in Feb. I lost a brother in 1993, Blackhawk Down in Somalia. So much sorrow, but these men, women, of our armedforces, they are the HERO'S., and they are our ANGELS on earth. GOD BLESS YOU, AND GOD BLESS THE RED WHITE AND BLUE.
Sincerely,

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
When tomorrow starts without me,
and I’m not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes,
all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry,
the way you did today,
while thinking of the many things,
we didn’t get to say.
I know how much you love me,
as much as I love you,
and each time that you think of me,
I know you’ll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me,
please try to understand,
that an Angel came and called my name,
and took me by the hand,
and said my place was ready,
in heaven far above,
and that I’d have to leave behind,
all those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away,
a tear fell from my eye,
for all life, I’d always thought,
I didn’t want to die.
I had so much to live for,
so much yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays,
the good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday,
just even for awhile,
I’d say goodbye and kiss you
and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized,
that this could never be,
for emptiness and memories,
would take the place of me.
And when I though of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven’s
gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
from His great golden throne,
He said, "This is eternity,
and all I’ve promised you".
Today for life on earth is past,
but here it starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow,
but today will always last,
and since each day’s the same day,
there’s no longing for the past.
But you have been so faithful,
so trusting and so true.
Though there were times you did some things,
you knew you shouldn’t do.
But you have been forgiven
and now at last you’re free.
So won’t you take my hand
and share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts without me,
don’t think we’re far apart,
for every time you think of me,
I’m right here, in your heart.
God Bless you Joy, you and your family. May God bring Jeff to you in your dreams.

Dear Joy,
I am so very sorry to hear about death of Jeff. I went to school with him for many many years, and he was a wonderful wonderful person. You have my heartfelt sympathy. I thought of this poem and wanted to send to you...I will say a prayer and light a candle for you tonight.
I said, "God, I hurt."
And God said, "I know."
I said, "God, I cry a lot."
And God said, "That is why I gave you tears."
I said, "God, I am so depressed." And God said, "That is why I gave you Sunshine."
I said, "God, life is so hard." And God said, "That is why I gave you loved ones."
I said, "God, my loved one died." And God said, "So did mine."
I said, "God, it is such a loss." And God said, "I saw mine nailed to a cross."
I said, "God, but your loved one lives."
And God said, "So does yours."
I said, "God, where are they now?" And God said, "Mine is on My right. Yours is in the Light."
I said, "God, it hurts."
And God said, "I know."

I am so sorry for your loss. I was shocked to hear about Jeff's death on the Indianapolis TV news this evening. Jeff was a wonderful person. I knew him in high school, when he was an officer for VICA -- we met at an annual student vocational organizations meeting. He had such spirit and was such a leader. Though it's been a decade since we last talked, I have never forgotten and will never forget him.
