BROWN, Joan Ryan 84, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 23, in Raleigh, NC. Joan was the wife of the late George E. Brown and was also predeceased by her parents William and Florence Vaughn Ryan, brothers William, Francis, Ernest, and John Ryan, sisters Helen Osterhout, Marian Hernick, Florence Morton, and Ruth Terry, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joan is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Richard Lyles, and cherished grandchildren Matthew, Sarah, and Brendan Lyles all of Raleigh, loving son and wife, Terence and Cindy Yoder-Brown, and their children Colin and Daniel of Sonoma, CA, and beloved son and wife, Gregory and Trish Brown, and children Regan, Mariah, and Kieran of Lafayette, CA. Other survivors include cousins, nieces, and nephews. Joan was born in South Troy, New York on May 15, 1931. She was a Catholic Central High School graduate class of 1949, a former employee of the Ford Motor Company, and a retiree of the Albany Public Library. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Troy. Friends are welcome to join the family at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY, on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan's memory may be made to Cure HHT (curehht.org).

My very sincere sympathy goes out to you, Carol, Richard, Matthew, Sarah and Brendan. You were certainly Blessed throughout the time that Joan was also blessed to be living and sharing life with you in your home. You lost a very dear family member and I lost a cherished friend. I am so grateful that I was able get to know and enjoy the company of Joan during our visits when I brought her the Holy Eucharist. I am so happy that she is no longer in pain and I am confidant that she is at peace, now that the Lord has welcomed her home, with open arms.
