Arthur, Vera (Vee) Ince, 87, passed away Wednesday September 8, 2010, surrounded by her family & friends. Vee was born September 23, 1922 in West Helena, Arkansas. She joined the US Navy WAVES in June 1945 as a flight orderly, and flew as third member of a DC3 aircrew. Upon discharge, Vee completed her bachelor's degree in psychology at Miami University in Florida, and became a reservations agent at American Airlines in San Francisco. On a jaunt to Carmel, California, she met her husband, Perry Marshall Arthur. They were married May 29, 1949, and Vee traveled the world as an Army wife. Along the way, three children joined the adventure. True to her nature, in her alter days Vee was known to her e-mail friends as the Arkansas Traveler. Vera received her master's degree in school counseling from Florida State University and was an outstanding school counselor for many years. Vee was an active member of the Sebring chapter of the US Navy WAVES (past president), the Red Beach Club, Sebring Women's Club, Highland's Little Theater, Phi Delta Kappa, FSU Alumni Association, and Friends of the Library.
Vee is survived by her husband, Perry Marshall Arthur; their three children, Mike Arthur (Linda) of Horseshoe, NC, Kaerdi McGovern of Sebring, and Cathy Kottyan (Matt0 of Augusta, Ga; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Ferguson of Conway, AR, and Lou Carmen (Ray) of Memphis, TN. One of Vee's many passions in life was doting on her grandchildren; Dillon McGovern, Tim Kottyan (Erin), Katie Kottyan Olson (Neil), and Zac Arthur; and great grandchildren;; Clover, Indigo, Willow, and Nova, Children of Tim and Erin Kottyan. Vee was a truly wonderful mother, grandmother, and southern lady. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
