Will miss my Aunt Margaret.
She always told stories of how she
worked at North American Aviation
in the early days of aircraft
development.
She would spend hours telling me of stories of working with James Howard ("Dutch") Kindelberger 1895 - 1962 founder of North American Aviation doing flight analysis on WWII aircraft and those in the Korean War.
Margaret work on the P-51 Mustang which
my father flew in WWII.
The Ast family was an amazing bunch in that both her brothers, Vincent Ast and Bud Ast were both aircraft mechanics and both work on the P-51.
They also worked on the famous Shoestring racer and Ballerina racer planes that broke many speed records.
My father (Margaret's brother) , Vincent Ast, flew the P-51 in WWII and basically that fighter plane was the tipping point in in WWII Europe to win the battle of Nazi Germany.
The Ast family seems to have aviation
history built into their genes. Will miss that generation.
She will be remembered as having a full life to the age of 94 and was
with friends in Leisure World in Seal Beach, CA.
Margaret, I will miss you, but I know
you will be in peace.
Attached picture of Margaret holding me as a baby when I was young.
