Herbert Allmers

ALLMERS
Herbert H. "Bert", 79, of Long Beach Island, NJ, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Dumont, he was a long-time resident.
Bert retired in 1992 as the Deputy Chief of Detectives for the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. He graduated from Dumont High School, Rutgers University, and received a Masters degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. In 1976, he graduated from the FBI National Academy (Quantico, VA), 105th session and was a member of PBA Local #221. He was a lifetime member and past President of the New Jersey Polygraphists Inc. and was instrumental in forming the Community Center for Mental Health in Dumont, he served as Chairman for six years. He was a member of the Dumont Fire Dept. Co. #3, becoming Chief in 1973 and a lifetime member of the New Jersey State Fireman's Association. He served on the Board of Director's of Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson. He belonged to the Alpine Tilden-Tenakill Masonic Lodge #77 of Tenafly and the Salaam Shriners Temple in Livingston, NJ.
Bert will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy (nee Forster), his devoted sons; Scott and his wife Kerry, Gary and his wife Colleen, his cherished daughters; Kimberly Dowd, and Krissy Manning and her husband Frank. A great joy in Bert's life were his adored grandchildren: Kelly, and Billy Dowd, Ryan, Kylie, Brennan, and Camryn Allmers, James, Julie, and John Allmers, and Frank, Kassidy, Karly, and Kelty Manning.
Bert loved spending his winters in Jupiter, Florida. A loyal friend to many, he touched countless lives.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, July 5th, 2012 from 2-6 PM at Frech Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont, NJ.
