Bill was always a pleasure to meet, sometimes in unexpected places. His smiling face was welcoming on even the roughest days. He always had thoughts of my family through the years, and my thoughts are with his family today.

"Cowboy" Bill Greene personified the "third man syndrome"; he will always be there in thoughts and memories.

Along with Jim Harris, I first met Bill in 1999 at a roller coaster event. From 1999, the three of us were frequently together at Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW), and sometimes even at Carowinds or Six Flags over Georgia. At the most recent Coaster Conference held at Kings Dominion and Busch Williamsburg a few years ago, extra ride time (ERT) included the sky coaster, which Bill Greene had ridden previously, although my son (Chris) and I had never ridden. With Bill's encouragement, he was even our "third man" riding that sky coaster.

Jim, Bill & I would talk at BGW about Bill's Navy experiences, his preaching experiences, the shows, and the many roller coasters he'd ridden during and after his Navy years.

Bill's last Virginia media event at BGW was riding Griffon with Bert the Conquorer, and he was often interviewed by Charlotte media about Carowinds roller coasters. Bill will remain our "third man," only now in his spirit watching over us rather than here to tell us more amazing stories and to ride that new coaster with us.

"Cowboy" was always a staple at our regional theme park events. I don't recall attending any event that I didn't see him smiling like a kid after getting off of a coaster. His smiling face tucked under his cowbody hat was a welcoming sight after those long days of walking around a theme park. He will be truly missed in the Southeast Region.

I meet Bill at a coaster event at Busch Gardens in 1999. We have spent many very enjoyable hours talking about God, family, the navy and riding roller coasters. His knowledge and experiences have always been an inspiration. He was a great friend. I'm going to miss him, Jim Harris Virginia Beach, VA.

I truly enjoyed getting to know Bill. I saw him every Weds at First Baptist for a meal and the service. Neat man, who was the son of another fine man. His father ran Piedmont News Stand for some years downtown. I visited with Bill not long ago in his apartment. A friendly guy who had a great life. My condolences to his family.
