ESPARZA
Correna Ruth Esparza went to be with her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday October 24, 2012. She fought a long battle with the effects of radiation. She left an indelible mark on all those who knew her. Her kindness, smile, strong will and wit will be missed by all. Correna was born in San Antonio, TX on April 4, 1961. Fox Tech High School in San Antonio, TX, and would later become a victim of Hodgkin's disease. Friendship in life encompasses a lifetime of memories. I met Correna as an young teenager in the 80's.Enjoying weekend BBQ's and competitive volleyball and baseball. Correna shared a warm & inviting home with me and many others. The family gathering with her parents & the Esparza are some of my fondest memories. Correna allowed us to share her spirit which enriched my adult life and have been Blessed. We should honor Correna's entire lifetime of memories to mark her amazing spirit. I keep you with me with every breath I take. My prayers are will all who Correna touched. Give your Dad and Toby a kiss for me..Love you..

To all of Correna's family my thoughts and prayers are with you at your loss of Correna. I had the pleasure of knowing Correna Espara while attending school at Fox Tech. Correna may your family find comfort in knowing that you are now in the hands of the Lord, free from pain. Although it has been many years you are the type of individual that touched lives with your kind heart and never forgotten. May you rest in peace.

Thank you to all the outpouring of support Correna's friends and Professional Associates have shown our family; Correna's family. Correna's happiest days were when she was with Adult Protective Services, and the State of Texas. Thank you to all those in that community for carrying the torch forward in the difficult work you do. Correna took her role seriously, and I believe many souls benefitted from her dedication, and that of her teams. My sister NEVER considered herself a 'victim' of Hodgkins. At the very young age of 16, she knowingly accepted the challenges ahead, fought it, and WON! Correna, our family, and friends realized the reward of her fight, when she gained 33 additional years. Correna lived life hard and to the fullest. We all knew her days were limited, but it did not deter her goals of a Professional education, and a full career dedicated to helping those in greater need than she. She is a brave girl. Our parents have always supported our individual accomplishments, and are very proud of each of us. Thank you Sis, for sharing your life, giving all your warm heart, and helping us find laughter in even the simplest things, like a stuffed green doll- The Grinch! Your wish was to have Grinch with you. I pray that wish was respected. See you in our dreams, Sis! Muah! Signed, The Torres family

When we loose a love one the heartache we feel can be unbearable. God grants us the opportunity to share great gifts in our lives. In my wonderful 38 year journey with my sister Correna I realized one of her many gifts was that of a protector. That's why she chose to dedicate her life's work protecting the elderly, disabled & less fortunate. It gives me great comfort knowing my sister Correna Ruth is protection us now from heaven...

My heartfelt condolences to my sister, nieces, nephews and friends. Correna will be missed, but even in sadness we can all rejoice and look forward to a wonderful reunion with family and friends, because God promised us a resurrection and everlasting life, free of pain and suffering, and God always keeps his promises.

I remember Correna as a genuinely nice, unassuming good and kind person. She was the type of person whom everybody liked and who was a true friend to all.Although it was obvious that she had suffered a lot, she never complained or was bitter. She has always been an inspiration to me and the year that I worked with her was made richer and fuller by virtue of her friendship.Steve Pekarsky San Antonio

I am one of the lucky people to not only have known Correna as a friend, but also as my supervisor. She expected her unit to not only follow guidelines set forth in manuals and handbooks, but also to follow our heart. Hers was the biggest heart of all.
My sincere sympathy goes to Julie. Correna was tremendously blessed to have you in her life.
