She was the Daughter of the late Earl Cranston and Kate Carver McKenzie. Vera was also preceded in death by her husband Paul Taylor Black and a brother John McKenzie.
She was born in Heaton, NC on November 6, 1937.
Vera spent most of her life in Johnson City, Tn, moving to Charlotte, NC in 1987.
Vera was loved by family and friends and will be missed.
Vera is survived by two daughters; Desiree Black Overcash and husband Garry of Iron Station, Paula Black Sharp of Huntington, In.
Three sisters; Rosa Lee Kuster of Hendersonville, Tn, Gloria Jean Amos of Madison, Tn, Nancy Pye of Kankakee, Ill, three brother; Paul McKenzie of Sarasotoa, Fl, Albert McKenzie of Spartanburg, SC, David McKenzie of Madison, four grandchildren; Robert Huffman, Amanda Overcash, Leslie Overcash, Josha Sharp and many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive Friends Friday from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM at Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley and will also receive friends at Monte Vesta Memorial Park at the Mausoleum Chapel in Johnson City, Tn. from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM Sunday November 25, 2012.
A graveside service will follow the visitation at the Park.
