Walter Tereschuk, 87, of Vestaburg, formerly of Sandusky, Michigan, passed away January 2, 2013 after a brief illness.
Walter was born on February 7, 1925 in Hamtramck, Michigan to Efim and Tatiana (Martinuk) Tereschuk. He graduated from Sandusky High School. During W.W.II, he served in the Navy for two years.
On May 7, 1949, he married Marjorie Swayze. They farmed near Sandusky for over 40 years. Walter also had a gas and fuel oil delivery service for several years. He was a member of the Sandusky Baptist Church. He served on the Deacon Board and sang in the church choir.
Walter and Marjorie moved to Rock Lake in 2002, where they joined First Baptist Church of Vestaburg. During the summers, Walter enjoyed having a large garden. He also liked to bowl, play golf, and hunt. Walter especially loved time spent with his family.
Walter is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie Tereschuk; daughter, Shirley Hoag of New Buffalo, MI; son, Walter James (Sylvia) Tereschuk of Frisco, TX; daughter, Barbara (Dr. Gary) VanderLugt of Alma; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister, Ann Lutz; sister-in-law, Mary Beth Tereschuk; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael; brothers, John, Alex, and Daniel Tereschuk; and sisters, Eugenia Olshansky and Ruth Carman.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Vestaburg with Pastor Peter Carlson officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home in Alma.

I'm Debbie Worrell (Tereschuk) from Jonesborough, TN. Walter was my dad's brother. I remember visiting the farm when I was very small. So sorry to hear about your loss.
