Charles Rupert ("Jami") Jamison

Charles Rupert ("Jami") Jamison, 91, passed away in Charleston, SC on December 29, 2012.
Jami was born March 2, 1921, in Spartanburg, SC, the youngest child of Andrew Marshall and Maud Ellis Jamison. After graduation from Wofford College, he served as a flight instructor in the US Navy during WW II. His love of flying continued throughout his life. After working in the family business in Spartanburg, Jami became an executive at Mead Johnson Company in Evansville, IN. Jami also developed a hanger facility at the Evansville Memorial Airport, had an airplane fuel franchise, and formed the Jamison Corporation for real estate investments. Jami and his second wife Alexa retired to Longboat Key, FL, where they indulged in their favorite pastimes: sailing, tennis, and entertaining. They were members of All Angels Episcopal Church in Longboat Key and Church of the Good Shepherd in Cashiers, NC, where they spent their summers. Jami was a member of the Rotary Club, Evansville Country Club, Evansville Petroleum Club, The Field Club in Sarasota, FL, Bird Key Yacht Club in Bird Key, FL, and Cedar Creek Racquet Club in Cashiers.
Jami was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Alexa Williams Jamison, and stepdaughter, Susan Pegram Harrison.
He is survived by his children, Meredith J. Jamison of Charleston and Charles R. Jamison, Jr. of Asheville, NC, and his stepdaughters, Alexa Harrison Moss of Los Angeles and Julie Harrison of Chicago. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Eric D. Frisch, Kyle Frisch Adams, Alec Moss, Anne Dakota Coughlin, Chase Jamison, Ian Jamison, Caitlin Moss, and Patrick Coughlin. Jami was blessed with three great grandchildren: Reed Frisch, Rhett Adams, and Reef Jamison.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made in Jami's honor to Habitat for Humanity. Jami will be remembered for his generosity and his quick wit, as well as his ready smile and dancing blue eyes.

I remember doing a little legal word with Jami when I was atty for the Evansville Airport. Havent seen or heard about him for many years. However, my memory recalls him as a smart, likable man . It is sad to read of his demise. My condolences to his family. Wes Bowers, Nashville Tn
