Kevin M. Watters
Red Hook - Kevin Michael Watters, 61, of Red Hook, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, surrounded by his children after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 20th, 1951, in Glen Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Catherine Claire (Morrill) and the late Chief Warrant Officer Kieran Watters.
For many years, and until his retirement, Kevin worked as a supervisor of the tree crew with the Dutchess County Department of Public Works. Kevin also operated his own tree service business and served the entire Northern Dutchess region.
Following his retirement he continued his tree business and also enjoyed recycling metal. He was an avid sports enthusiast with his greatest passion being the NFL's Green Bay Packers.
He was an active member of the Men's Auxiliary for the Red Hook Post #7765, VFW, the Red Hook-Rhinebeck Lodge 2022 BPOE, the Kalicoontie Rod & Gun Club based in Livingston, and a past member of the Red Hook Fire Company. He also was a proud member of the NRA.
He is survived by his daughter; Barbara "Kit" Watters of Red Hook, his two sons; Ryan Watters of Germantown, and Heath Watters of Red Hook, his grandson; Dylan Bayliss of Red Hook, his sister; Catherine (Keith) Hall of Wilton, NY, two brothers; Kerry (Kathy) Watters of South Glen Falls, NY, and Michael Watters and his partner Tom Manella of Troy, NY, several nieces, nephews, and many devoted friends.
He was predeceased by a sister; Dianne Watters.
The family would like to thank his doctors; Dr. Jack Mancus of Rhinebeck, and Dr. Paul Donovan of Kingston, and all the other wonderful doctors and nurses along the way.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Wednesday, March 6th, 2013 from 4-7 PM. Funeral service will be held at 7 pm. Cremation will be at Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
Memorial donations may be made in Kevin's memory to the Red Hook Post #7765 Veterans of Foreign Wars, 30 Elizabeth St, PO Box 5, Red Hook, NY 12571, American Cancer Society, 2678 South Rd, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
