William C. (Bill) Deehan, 87, of Plymouth, formerly of Whitman, devoted husband of Shirley (Simmons) (Alger) and the late Margery (Longden) Deehan, died Friday, March 1. Son of the late John T. and Margaret( Nash) Deehan. Bill grew up in Whitman. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy. Upon returning, he married and settled in Abington and Whitman, while dedicating his working life to the family trucking business. In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by his children and their spouses: Paul Deehan of Harwich Port, Jack and Nancy Deehan of Abington and Gayle and Paul Franey of Whitman, his stepdaughter, Lesley and her husband Joseph Ferreira of Kingston; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret Shields of Abington, Frances (Olsen) Mahoney of Whitman, Kathleen Willett of East Bridgewater, Deanna Bermingham of Whitman and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Marie Phinney and Ann McGunnigle, and stepson Sanford Alger. His services will be held on Wednesday March 6, at 8:15 a.m. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. His visitation was held on Tuesday from 4 - 8.
