Lorne and Sons Funeral Home - Delray Beach Obituary

Diran "Dee" Chertavian, 89, of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Lowell, MA, passed away on the morning of March 10, 2013. He had been recovering from a minor heart attack when he suffered another which claimed his life. "Dee" will always be remembered for his love of life, his generosity, kind spirit, and thoughtfulness. He was a professional musician, playing clarinet and saxophone, who graduated from The New England Conservatory of Music. He served in the U. S. Navy as a musician during World War One and again during The Korean War. He toured with Arthur Fiedler & The Boston Pops Orchestra for two years, played in the The San Antonio Symphony, then showcased his many talents in the "Dee Deran Orchestra" at prestigious hotels and resorts in New England and Florida. He was a life long entertainer delighting all he performed for! Next to his love of music was golf, and he shared these passions with friends and family. Dee was loved by all he came in contact with and his enthusiasm for life was contagious. He is survived by his sister, Lucia Yapp, brother, Levon Chertavian, faithful friend, Kia Ly, and 6 nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly. Funeral services and burial will be private. Expressions of condolence may be shared at Lorne&Sons.com.

Dee was a great Uncle! He had everything I valued as a teenager - nice clothes, nice car, lots of friends. He lived for many years in wonderful grand hotels playing golf by day and entertaining at night. He brought a lot of happiness to peoples' lives. Plus, he never once told me what to do. He will be very missed.

I send my most heartfelt sympathy to Dee's family and friends. I know Kia, you will miss him dearly.

I offer my condolences to Dee's Sister Lucy, Brother Levon, and his Love and Caretaker Kia Lia who was there for him in Florida and Massachusetts for 27 years. I have many beautiful memories through the years with Dee and Kia
Peace and
God Bless You All
