Charles E. Barrington, 88, passed away peacefully at home March 18, 2013.
Born in England, he served in the Royal Air Force during World War II and immigrated to the United States in 1959. Charles was an engineer who retired from Goodyear Aerospace after 41 years. During this time, he was awarded four patents on wheel and brake designs. He was a longtime member of the Men's Garden Club of America, an active volunteer with lengthy service at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens and an active volunteer at the Seiberling Nature Realm.
Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Alice Barrington and sister, Joyce Barrington, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene; son, David Barrington; daughter, Angela (Bob) Darragh; grandchildren, David, Brent and Andrew Barrington and Nicole Darragh.
A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. SATURDAY, March 30th at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Dr. Walter S. Chisholm officiating. Private inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 4 p.m. SATURDAY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stan Hywet Hall or Seiberling Nature Realm. Charlie you were the best sub-dad I could have asked for even tho I only met up with you a few times. I loved spending those few days with and loved your smile! Peace always Charlie!

I am very sorry to hear about Charlie. I really appreciated his friendly greetings at the Seiberling Nature Realm and our talks about Stan Hywet. It was always a treat to be greeted by him and he came across as a kind gentleman with much knowledge and life experience to share with others that he met.

Charlie was always one of my favorite voluteers at Stan Hywet. His sense of humor and warm, friendly nature were second-to-none. He will be missed.

We were so very sorry to hear about Charlie. He was a bright spot in our Stan Hywet duties. I'm sure he'll be greatly missed by all who knew him.

I am sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. I have fond memories of working with Charlie in Wheel and Brake Engineering and the fun Thursday nights at Belair Lane with the W&B Office Bowling league.
