Richard L. Amelio, Jr. of Villa Park Richard L. Amelio, Jr., age 38, veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, died May 17 at Elmhurst Hospital. Visitation will be Sunday from 3PM to 9PM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park. Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 AM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home. Interment will be private. Mr. Amelio is survived by his mother Robin A. nee Bujak (Tony P.) Maro of Villa Park; his father, Richard L. (Helen) of Tampa, Florida; his grandmother, Zona C. nee Freeman of Mt. Prospect; his partner, Michelle Cruz; three brothers, Anthony (Brenda) Maro of Denver, Colo., Andrew (Billie Jo) Maro of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Frank (Anna) of New York; five sisters, Donna (Richard) Sorensen of Durant, Iowa, Laura Amelio of Tampa, Fla., Natasha Amelio of Tampa, Fla., Tori (William) Unger of Villa Park, and Becky (Josh) Kwiatkowski of Villa Park; five nieces and six nephews; nephew and cousin of many. Mr. Amelio is preceded in death by his grandfather, Leo W. Bujak. Mr. Amelio was in the U.S. Coast Guard for eight years and the U.S. Navy for four years. He was one of the first responders with the Coast Guard during Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Amelio was a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
