David Ingersoll Obituary

Ingersoll, David Keith Age 84, of Braceville, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Dave was born on February 28, 1929 in Batchtown, Illinois. He was the son of Perry and Ruby (nee Scounce) Ingersoll. Dave served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. On July 25, 1953 Dave married the love of his life Virginia "Jenny" Inlow. Together they developed and owned the Fossil Rock Recreation Area in Wilmington for over 28 years before selling in 1997 and retiring to their home in BracevilleDave's own "piece of paradise." Dave touched so many lives throughout the years, especially of those who became part of the Fossil Rock family, considering the campground their home away from home. In earlier days, Dave also ran a septic business and built and owned the Sparkle Laundromat in Coal City. Dave enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family and many friends he had made throughout his lifetime. He was lucky enough to have lived to see his great-grandchildren who he enjoyed immensely during the last several years. He will always be remembered for his ambitious entrepreneurial spirit, unique sense of humor, and for his unforgettable back-porch stories. Dave's well-known smirkthat big crooked smile with one eyebrow raisedwill forever be missed. Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Jenny; three children, Dianna Cotsirilos of Cobden, Evelyn (Bill) Shepherd of Lockport, and Marcia (Kenny) Carpenter of Coal City; 7 grandchildren, Brian Brown, Kirt Brown, Tania Shepherd, Candice (Justin) Pop, Sean Shepherd, Shanta (Curt) Adams and Savannah Carpenter; 5 great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Joslyn Pop, and Blayne, Makenna and Peyton Adams; one sister-in-law, Juanita (Keith) Muntz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Paul, Richard, Edward and Samuel; 3 sisters, Ogal (Leon) Dixon, Leona (Willy) Hendricks, and Opal; one brother-in-law, Eugene Inlow; and one sister-in-law, Willene (Lee) Narup. Per Dave's wishes, a private family memorial will be held. Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dave's memory to The Kidney Foundation or Joliet Area Community Hospice. Arrangements have been made under the direction and care of Reeves Funeral Homes, Ltd. in Coal City. (815-634-2125)
