Barry R. Dace, my beloved brother, went home to Jesus, and his mother and father, in August this year. Barry is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Jean Dace of Richmond, KY; his sister, Kelly Jeanne Dace of Lake Worth, FL; and his three cousins, Crystal McNulty of Chillicothe, IL, Mark Smith of Canton, IL, and Dan Smith, of Roseville, CA.
Barry was a kind, loving, thoughtful person who had a jovial personality and enjoyed making others laugh. He was compassionate and had a gentleness toward animals and nature, without much need for material things. Barry had a passion to be in the solitude of outdoors. Fishing was high on the list of things to do! His memory was amazing and he loved to talk about 'old times'. Some of his fondest memories were trekking around the Arizona mountains, times shared with his daughter, having his dog companions by his side, and adventures of growing up in Illinois and Wisconsin. He recently proclaimed his faith in Jesus and Christianity by joining the United Presbyterian Church, where he was a regular member of the Men's Breakfast, as well as just starting to become part of the properties committee.
Life history for Barry also included living in Mesa, Arizona and moving back to Peoria fifteen years ago, where he was born. His work history was primarily in the construction industry, with jobs at Fiat-Allis in Phoenix, AZ, Gila Redi-Mix and Payson Concrete in Payson, AZ. His favorite job was as an operating engineer, director and instructor for Superior Training, in Gilbert, AZ.
Service will be held at the United Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 11, at 4:00 PM, with social gathering immediately following in the church fellowship hall. Church address is: 2400 W Northmoor Rd., Peoria, IL, 61614. We encourage anyone who knew Barry to please attend and share stories. He is dearly missed and leaves an empty space in all the hearts of those who knew him.
Donations in lieu of flowers, can be made to: "Hooked On Fishing", a non-profit organization to teach children / special needs / seniors, how to fish. Please mail checks to: PO Box 176, Washington, IL 61571. Donations can also be made to United Presbyterian Church, the place of service, address listed above.
